Senior and Executive Management
Spencer started his role in the IT Distribution industry at Rectron in June 1996 as a technician. He then moved to Mustek, our holding company, in 1997 to take on the role of Warehouse Manager. During the last 20 years, Spencer has held various strategic managerial roles within the Group, most notably Operations Director at Zinox Technologies in Nigeria, and Managing Director of Mecer in Brazil between 2005 and 2007. In the latter part of 2007, he returned to South Africa to take on the post of Mecer Brand and Purchasing Officer at Mustek Limited, where his great understanding and ability for purchasing and negotiations grew.
Spencer is an expert in foreign procurement and has very strong networks in China, Korea, Taiwan, Japan and the United States. In October 2011, he took up the role of Products Director at Rectron. In this role Spencer grew Rectron’s product portfolio and started to expand Rectron’s enterprise solutions portfolio, while overseeing growth in Rectron’s traditional products.
Spencer took over the reins as Managing Director of Rectron in July 2016. As a member of the Mustek board, Spencer is fully accountable for Rectron’s growth and achievement against its targets. He is committed to Rectron’s vision of being a customer-needs led organisation, delivering value to all stakeholders.
Gerhard is a registered chartered accountant with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. He passed both his board exams on his first attempt and, after completing his articles at Griesel Nel and Associates in Centurion, he joined Rectron in November 2006 as the Group Financial Manager. He was quickly promoted to Financial Director in August 2008 and has been in this role ever since.
Gerhard has an extensive knowledge of the ICT charter, with specific reference to Enterprise Development and Corporate and Social Investment. Gerhard is recognised for being a results-driven team leader with strong beliefs in people development and enablement.
His acute financial skill and understanding of the business has assisted Rectron to grow its profitability during the last five years, despite an economic downturn, fragile consumer spending and exchange rate volatility.
Gerhard embraces and encourages entrepreneurship and his thought leadership is key to Rectron’s future development and innovation. His loyal and positive persona provide strong direction for an employee–driven culture, where individuals are respected and are given opportunities to grow within the organisation.
Martin is a seasoned operations, distribution and warehousing specialist with over 18 years’ experience in the ICT industry. Martin’s passion for customer service excellence was identified very early in his career and this, together with his ability to work well with people, assisted his career development at Rectron, from Stores Clerk through to Operations Director.
Martin’s knowledge of the company history as well as his ability to understand its people, systems and processes earned him the position of Operations Manager in 2005 and eventually Operations Director in 2010, a position he holds today.
With a strong passion for strategic development and digital transformation, Martin has applied his knowledge and project management expertise, making him a natural leader. He manages approximately 160 staff country-wide and is considered a mentor and a figurehead by the staff he leads. As a member of the Board of Directors, Martin is deeply involved in Rectron’s future growth and employee and community development. His core focus is to ensure that our customer experience within the operations division at Rectron is consistent and always improving.
Martin has a keen interest in Corporate and Social Investment and education. He is a great believer in staff empowerment and relies heavily on his extended team to make sure a good job gets done.
Matthew started with Rectron as a sales representative in March 2000 straight after his Matric year and has been with the company for over 14 years.
He grew in his sales role at Rectron to become a Sales Line Manager, and in 2004 transferred to, what was then one of the Group Companies, as the General Manager. In July 2011 Matthew returned to Rectron to take on the role of Acer Brand Manager.
In August 2012 he was promoted to National Sales Manager, being accountable for the sales process in five branches country wide. In his role as Sales Manager, Matthew spearheaded the innovation behind Rectron’s famous Rewards programme that incentivises resellers for products purchased through Rectron. Matthew has a natural ability to communicate with employees and peers alike. He is well liked by customers and is frequently used as a spokesperson for Rectron.In July 2016 Matthew took over the role of Product Director for Rectron where he now plays a critical role in vendor relationships and negotiations.
Elaine Wang currently holds the position of Cloud and Software Solutions Director for the Mustek Group. Having achieved a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree from the University of Witwatersrand and a Master of Business Administration from the National Taipei University, Elaine is well qualified for this role.
In the past Elaine, has managed both the printer and components product categories at Rectron. In her current role, Elaine demonstrates a passion for the transformative power of the cloud for SMEs, and her focus is on educating the channel on the potential of cloud solutions.
With a core strength in marketing, she has conceptualised and implemented creative marketing plans that continuously deliver strong results. Elaine has a reputation for being hard-working and dedicated, and this has been recognised with her inclusion into the Rectron Executive Team, to which she is an invaluable addition.
Elaine inspires and encourages her team to think creatively and find innovative ways solve problems. Her passion for new technology and services, paired with her savvy creativity, inspires employees to think out of the box, work out of the box, reach new goals and consider new horizons.
Michael joined Rectron in October 2016 as the National Sales Manager. Michael is an experienced sales master with over 18 years of experience as a Sales Manager. He brings with him the capability to manage and motivate large sales teams, having worked in both the ICT and Chemical industries. Michael is passionate about customer service and has spent time working for resellers like Ultra Network Solutions and Ideal Consulting.
He brings real time experience relating to the challenges that our customers are facing in day to day business. His core focus at Rectron is the assistance and enablement of our key resellers and retailers, to be able to grow into new business verticals. In support of this he will drive and manage our national sales team, to offer the best possible customer service.
Avina joined Rectron in 2012 as an HR Specialist and was appointed as HR Manager in 2015. She heads up Human Resources and Training for all employees across the organisation. She has many years of diverse human resource management experience, provides overall support, contributes in the upliftment and empowering of organisational development and culture. Avina is an outcome-oriented leader with strong interpersonal skills and her involvement and initiative in various projects reflects her excellent rapport and interaction with people.
Sebastian first joined Rectron as a Technician in the Durban office in 1999. He has moved around within Rectron and within the Mustek group of companies to notch up skills and experience in technical operations, HR and marketing.
In his current role, he is responsible for growing the business and assisting customers, vendors and employees in diverse ways.
Antonet joined Rectron as a Sales Representative in 1998 straight after school. She gained valuable experience and skills in sales and HR and worked in Product Management and Debtors Management.
She has an excellent understanding of Rectron’s operations and was appointed to her current role in 2015 where she is now responsible for managing growth and development of the reseller channel.
Kim worked as a Call Centre Manager, dealing extensively with software and hardware queries. She also has experience in retail sales, merchandising and product management.
More recently, Kim has managed Rectron’s marketing initiatives, organising events, overseeing product launches and taking care of Rectron’s corporate communications.
Melisa gained many years of experience in the ICT and sales environment prior to joining Rectron. With a competitive spirit and solid business acumen, she embraces change and helps Rectron and our retail partners to stay one step ahead of ever-evolving technological developments and the latest trends. She has worked for Rectron since 2005.
Frans joined the Rectron family in 2006 as a Sales Consultant. He has progressed through various roles in sales and products and has developed a broad, first-hand experience of the business. He has headed up the Johannesburg sales team since 2011.
Lizette is a registered Chartered Accountant with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. Lizette completed a secondment in the USA, Minnesota, Minneapolis. Lizette passed both board exams within upon her first attempt and after completing her articles at KPMG in Pretoria, joined Rectron in December 2016, as the Group Financial Manager, CA(SA). Lizette is a very approachable and positive person, who has already proved a tremendous asset to the Executive Management team.
Rehán joined Rectron as a Server Assembly Technician in 2003. Rehán joined the IT department in 2008 as an IT Support Specialist, focusing on assisting internal staff with hardware and software uploads and upgrades. His dedication and hard work earned him the promotion through to IT Manager in June 2017, servicing the IT needs of all 340 staff across the country. Rehán is a qualified Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), a Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist [MCTS] in Windows Vista, Windows 8, Windows Configuration, and is certified in CompTIA Server+.
Rectron's Regional Management
Ian trained and worked in consumer and marine electronics before joining Rectron as a Technician in 1998. He has extensive technical knowledge, along with a good understanding of operations. Ian is a passionate leader and manages the Western Cape region, which employs over 50 people.
Nereina joined Rectron in 2006 as a Sales Executive in the Durban Branch. Her background in computer training and her vast technical knowledge meant that she was liked and admired by both customers and staff. Her passion for working with people and her tenacity to succeed resulted in her being appointed as the Sales Manager in the Rectron Durban branch during 2012. In May 2016 Nereina was promoted to Acting Branch Manager in Durban, a position she still holds today.
Liezl joined Rectron as a Receptionist in 2002 when the Bloemfontein branch first opened its doors. Through her determination and willingness to learn, she progressed quickly through the ranks, working in warehousing, accounts, operations and servicing the dealer network. She was promoted to Regional Branch Manager in 2011 and she currently manages around 20 staff.
Hanno Lochner Hanno started working for Rectron in 2003 as an IT Technician. He has an extensive knowledge of technology and his passion for the industry has helped him grow his career to a managerial level. Hanno was appointed as Regional Branch Manager in 2008 and he currently manages almost a dozen staff in the Port Elizabeth branch.
Hanno’s management skills were clearly evident and his ability to transform a struggling branch into a profitable business saw him being promoted to branch manager. Hanno has contributed significantly to growing Rectron’s customer base in the Eastern Cape and he continues to share his knowledge and skills with staff and customers, helping to make the Port Elizabeth branch an ongoing success.
Ahmed started his career in IT in 1992 working as a Technician for an IT distributor. He joined Rectron in 2003 and was quickly promoted from Technician to Service Centre Manager. He is a specialist in operations and is dedicated to delivering customer service excellence. Ahmed was appointed as Operations Manager of the Cape Town branch in 2011.
Cobus has over 20 years’ experience in ICT distribution and is well known in the industry as being passionate about service and technology. Cobus joined Rectron in 2014 as a specialist for our printer division as well as the Lenovo Brand. Cobus was appointed as Acting Branch Manager in June.
Coenraad started his career as a driver for a courier company in Bloemfontein and joined Rectron as a driver in 2003. With a passion for customers and service excellence, Coenraad consistently performed well, being promoted through areas of the business including stores and warehouse administration. He became Operations Manager in 2014 and currently manages the Service Centre, warehouse deliveries and the Free State fleet.
